ORLANDO, Fl. (September 26, 2016)–Orlando-based start-up, Night Runner 270, is the next bright idea to light up your television screen. The husband and wife inventor/running duo, Doug and Renata Storer, will appear on ABC’s Shark Tank on Friday, October 7 at 9pm EST.
Night Runner 270 originally launched as a Kickstarter campaign in early 2015. The product quickly gained traction raising $43,000 from over 500 backers in 28 countries. Night Runner 270 consists of two small, featherweight, water-tight, rechargeable LED lights that clip securely to each shoe and flood the path ahead with light up to 30 feet. The product officially hit the market in October 2015 with an international launch at the NYC Marathon.
“This past year has been the definition of a learning experience,” said Renata Storer. “As two later-in- life married entrepreneurs, I can’t imagine treading shark infested water with anyone else by my side.”
The Storers believe they have pioneered a way to keep runners, walkers, and hikers safe and injury-free in the pre-dawn/post- dusk hours. To date, they have sold over 8,000 units and appeared in over 80 media outlets.
“We’ve come a long way from our kitchen laboratory of duct tape, flashlights,
and running shoes,” said Doug Storer.
The Storers hope to connect with a Shark that shares their vision for optimizing the darker hours. Their goal is to develop a full line of products including bluetooth enabled devices.
“As long-time fans of Shark Tank, we are elated to appear on the show,” said Doug. “But I promise you, no one is more excited than my 85-year- old father who has asked me daily about the outcome. He’s going to have to wait and find out like everyone else next Friday.”
